Professional Rescuers means that you will be certified to perform basic life-saving measures by yourself or direct a team of people in an emergency. This engaging class, held at the Mahaska County YMCA, equips participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Course Highlights:

Course Content:

  • CPR Techniques: Learn critical cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques for adults, children, and infants, including chest compressions and rescue breaths.
  • AED Training: Understand how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) effectively in cardiac emergencies, with hands-on practice to build your skills.
  • First Aid Basics: Gain knowledge in assessing and managing a variety of common medical emergencies, including cuts, burns, fractures, and allergic reactions.

Lifeguard Recertification Course

The Lifeguard Recertification course is designed for certified lifeguards whose certification has expired or is nearing expiration. This course offers a comprehensive review of key lifeguard skills, including water rescue techniques, CPR, First Aid, and AED usage. Participants will refresh their knowledge and ensure they meet current safety standards and procedures. The course includes both theoretical instruction and hands-on practice, allowing lifeguards to demonstrate proficiency in real-world scenarios. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a renewed certification, ensuring they are prepared to respond to emergencies effectively and maintain a safe aquatic environment.

Prerequisites: Valid, current lifeguard certification.

Our Lifeguard Training Course provides everything you need to become a certified lifeguard, capable of responding to emergencies with confidence and skill. This course will equip you with the essential knowledge and hands-on experience to succeed in this important role.

Course Content:

    • Water Rescue Techniques: Master essential rescue skills to handle all types of water-related emergencies, from distressed swimmers to spinal injuries.
    • CPR & First Aid Certification: Learn life-saving CPR for all ages and essential first aid for injuries.
    • Emergency Response: Develop the ability to assess and respond effectively to emergency situations, ensuring safety for everyone.
    • Preventative Skills: Understand how to spot and prevent potential hazards before they become a problem, keeping the environment safe for all.

Course Duration: March 29th and April 5th, 9 AM to 5 PM Daily

Cost: $125 Members, $150 Non-Members
